answers 0:Do they think that insulting me is a good way to get a helpful response? Do they check my bio first? (Just click on the photo to the left.) Do they realize that the photo I use as my icon is a dental x-ray?Folks, there ARE quite a few "real" dentists, hygienists and assistants here who just enjoy helping people. Most mail that I get is highly intelligent and the people are appreciative. Some of it, though, is actually degrading and argumentative. It's okay if you don't believe I am a dentist, but please direct your nasty comments towards the person who you are actually angry with and spare me the annoyance....Show moreanswers 1:I think I saw that post. If I was seeking help, I would not begin it with questioning the person. I know a lot ! of people appreciate your help, so I hope the few haven't ruined your experience here. There probably ARE some "fake" dentists here, so I guess people want to be cautious because want the right information. I imagine that the person wanted accurate information, but was doubtful only because she was worried that the advice was coming from an unqualified professional. I don't think she meant any harm:)I know how hard it is for people to not believe you, but please don't let that get you down!!...answers 2:Wow, this is the worst problem ever. Thank God for this forumanswers 3:dont lick ur teeth while their been put on the glue tastes really bad and bitter (from what i remember--2½years ago)answers 4:Dr. Sam-I have really appreciated your comments to my questions about dental issues. I used to be very prevention oriented until I was injured by a dentist. Your kindness is of great value. In any case, I am writing to give you more info on the laser treatment for perio proble! ms. I am an avid researcher. Yes, the ultrasonic deals with th! e biofilm, but the laser is used for the healing. Read on...How does the laser work?A diode laser is used in combination with a micro-ultrasonic hand instrument that detaches the biofilm from the tooth surface. The swirling motion created by the micro-ultrasonic actually creates a tornado-like effect which attacks the physical structure of biofilm.Once the biofilm has been detached, the diode laser is used to sterilize the periodontal pockets and remove any infected tissue. As the old tissue is removed, microscopic clots form and the body's natural healing response takes over; as this occurs, the tissue reattaches to the bone and the gums return to a healthy, infection-free state. Can the laser hurt my teeth or cut my gums?Similar to how surgeons use lasers to remove diseased tissues, the magnetic light energy of the diode laser is specifically designed to seek out periodontal infection and therefore, doesn't harm the teeth or other, healthier tissue. This is one of the amaz! ing characteristics of lasers!Additionally, the hygienist calibrates the laser to provide just the right amount of power to treat your gums without causing undue pain or trauma to the tissue. If you request we will use the new form of needle-free anesthesia, Oraqix® to numb your gums. However, most of our guests don't need anesthesia and actually report a warm, soothing sensation while receiving laser therapy. After each treatment, the hygienist will apply a soothing balm of vitamin E over your gums to cool the treated areas and encourage healing. So, what do you think Dr. Sam? Unfortunately way too expensive. It is very sad that only the rich have access to all these better and safer and less painful dental techniques....answers 5:I think they will look great! I only had mine for a year and a half and it looked awesome afterwards. It may be different in the beginning but you'll get used to the new look and you'll love it! They also feel really smooth too!answers 6:I didn't r! eally do anything to prepare myself... Errm, eat alot of toffee while y! ou can? ð Haha, you get used to the feeling of your braces - it doesn't feel like you have anything on your teeth, it just feels normal really. I've had braces for six months now, and I got another year with them on, and I think the best thing you can do is to brush your teeth well because the better you look after them the quicker they work - because the wire is more effective if it hasn't got food and stuff stuck there. It's quite good choosing the colours for your braces and I think you shouldn't stick to one colour you should try lots of different ones so you don't get bored of it and you can make it look better. ð I like red, pink and purple on mine! It hurts a bit when you first get them put on, it gives you ulcers and scratches your mouth abit, but you can get this wax that you stick on the brackets to make it smoother, or use vaseline - that helps to stop cuts. Also, when it gets tightened at first it hurts to eat and it's best to stick to soft food like mash ! potato and yoghurts, but it only lasts a few days and then your back to normal! Good luck with them ð xx...answers 7:I was just reading (this is kind of off the subject although I do think it's rude for someone your trying to help, to question you) but, why is it that in ortho the teeth numbers are different than in general?? Just curious. It's hard for me sometimes because I'm used to the whole 8-8 thing. When a dentist calls the office and he wants to speak with the Dr. about removing a band on an upper left 3 it confuses me at first because I'm thinking cuspids. Look now I'm ranting! Sorry!Just curious why it's different....answers 8:That's bizarre that they did that...why would they take the time to even do that...why would they care??answers 9:Are you a smoker ? or Chew tobacco ?.In case your answer to either of the above is yes, consult a doc. These white patches are known as LEUKOPLAKIA.They are considered as carcinoma in situ.If not treated for a long time they ca! n turn carcinogenic. But you have nothing to worry, even I have one patch! for maybe last 15 years.Even lack of vitamins also manifest in the form of white patches. But to be careful get your self checked.answers 10:In support of Dr Sam: Yes he is a dentist. All of his advice is right on the money. I have spoken to him before and he is a very itelligent dentist. There are alot of people on here that do not know anything about dentistry and dont like the advice that a dental professional will tell them. It is called ignorance of the field of dentistry. Keep up the advice Dr Sam. By the way, I would hate to assist on the extraction of that #32!!!!answers 11:Unfortunately, there are many people who don't want to hear good advice - the merely want their own ideas validated...even when they happen to be wrong.Looks like you uspet a couple of people by telling them the truth. Go hang your head in shame!...answers 12:hi im probobly your age. all i mean, all my friends have braces. tell your teeth, named or un-named that they will never look bette! r after the desposal of the great wire ha well you can also eat your favorate food with your current chopmers and then the first food u eat after braces should be the same food sometimes it hurts to eat for like too days though have fun and look forward to your new teethanswers 13:Ur friend is right, but you will forget anyway, trust me. Like one other answerer said, bring chapstick because they use this plastic lip guard almost that can make your lips dry. Your teeth will be sore, I suggest to have really soft foods at your house already. OH! Get a good toothpaste that doesn't revolve around whitening (that will stain) like Crest Pro Health and DEFINETLY have act mouthwash handy. Hope I helped! ðanswers 14:theyll just get some thing that looks like play-doh and put it in your mouth for 15 seconds and they take it out do not breathe in your mouth.Second they dont hurt they just put some type of glue in your teth and then put your braces and during that time! do not touch them or move them or theyll will fall of third it cool ha! ving braces you get to pick your own color or if you want double color and if your braces fall like next month kust hope you have medicat to pay for it otherwayse youll be paying....
