Rubi Romo: You'll need to get your M1 motorcycle license as well or in lieu of the automobile license. *Strongly* recommend the MSF Basic Rider course: http://www.msf-usa.org/What you do NOT need is a large cruiser, touring, sport-touring, or four-cylinder street racing bike. What you do need is something economical and reliable: American, European, or Japanese manufacturer. For better MPG you want the smallest bike that will handle the speeds you will be riding at:For upto 35 mph, a 50ccFor upto 55 mph, a 125-150ccFor freeway speeds, a 250cc (marginal, except for the Ninja) or better.Anything more is simply for *fun* -- not that there is anything wrong with fun.Insurance varies considerably with the size/make/model of motorcycle -- check with your insurer before buying. You may find that costs override style.Scooters, while maybe gay or dorky, are in fact about the most practical two-wheel transportation you can find. Especially if you don't want road muck thrown up o! n your shoes. The Piaggio Fly 150 http://www.piaggiousa.com/scooters.php#/overview/P... FLY 150 will handle any non-freeway just fine.I needed Freeway capability, was looking at the 250cc Cruisers, got a 650 Savage for added FUN....Show more
Neville Dautremont: put this bike in your pipe and smoke it. Its everything you are looking forhttp://m.www.yahoo.com/_ylt=Ap4j8d_cpTFvAhQ3zYE8WD...
Damaris Weiler: Take a motorcycle riders course. You will get a chance to ride a bike in the class. That way you have a starting point to figure it out before going to test drive something. The classes are a great place to learn how to ride if you haven't ridden before. In some states they are required for anyone under 18 to get a cycle endorsement. And you might get a discount on insurance for having taken the course. (progressive gives 5%).Plus you need an endorsement to test drive bikes anyway....Show more
Rosann Mccomb: Do you want a sport bike or a cruiser?I ride a ! Yamaha V-Star and love it....but I'm not into the sport bikes ! (too uncomfortable at my age).Sit on a few and see what you like...what you'll use it for primarily. Do you want/need something with saddle bags or a bike where you can just carry a backpack if you need to tote things with you?Your budget is another thing to consider.Enjoy what you buy and ride safely!...Show more
Phil Kuarez: My 4 favorite bikes are the Honda CBR, Yamaha YZF R1 and R6, Suzuki GSX-R1000, and the 08 Kawasaki Ninja. Im guessing the R1 and R6 have the higher MPG because they aren't as strong. The GSX-R1000 probably has the lowest MPG because it's alot stronger. But it all depends on how strong your bike is. I know the GSX-R has one that is 999cc and thats strong. But I prefer the R6 for first timers because they are easier to drive and they also look nicer.
