Would people understand that psychology is part of philosophy , since philosophy analysis emotions into?

Derrick Cacioppo: After deciphering your question (is english your first language? If not, no worries), I have an answer. Anyone who is educated and capable of thinking for themselves will agree that philosophy is the root of all science, since philosophy is the study of truth. Not relative truth, but TRUTH, which is basically what science is. Science seeks to explain WHY the truth is what it is, and philosophy seeks to find the actual TRUTH itself. You ask why most people don't read more to realize truth. Well, because most people don't care. That's for the philosophers to figure out. Just like doctors don't understand why more people don't read up on anatomy and mechanics wonder why people are stupid when it comes to cars....Show more

Sharie Sommerville: "...since philosophy analysis emotions into?"That is a meaningless and incomprehensible statement. Please rewrite it so we can understand your question. EDIT: If you meant "...analyzes emotions into..." , (! analyzes is a verb, analysis is a noun) that is somewhat more comprehensible but is still grammatically rather inept. Please allow me to rewrite your question for you:"Would people understand that psychology is part of philosophy , since philosophy applies critical thinking in the analysis of emotions which helps people overcome many emotional and social problems?" Answer: While I basically agree that psychology has a philosophical component, as do all sciences, philosophy encompasses everything, all knowledge. It is a bit like saying that philosophy is the national postal system and psychology is your mailbox, which is a part of the postal system. You do not mail a letter to John Smith, USA, , you mail it to a specific city and street address. The science of psychology is quite a distinct area of specialization. Roughly, we can think of the science and professional practice of psychology as the study of how the mind operates, especially in the creation of behavior, and ho! w its operation can be influenced. There is another branch of ! psychology called Philosophy of Psychology, which addresses epistemological concerns about the methodology of psychological investigation, and then there is Philosophy of Mind that studies the nature of the mind, mental events, mental functions, mental properties, consciousness and their relationship to the physical body, particularly the brain. The Philosophy of Psychology is essentially an investigation of the status of psychology, not a study of conceptual issues in psychology. Philosophy of Mind is more closely related to the science of psychology, but it seeks a different sort of understanding of the mind by investigating what the mind is and how its nature lets it operate as the science of psychology says it does. So, if you have a question about emotional problems, talk to a psychologist or ask your questions in the psychology forum. If you wish to disciss Philosophy of Psychology or Philosophy of Mind, or perhaps the ethics of mental health praactices, talk to a phi! losopher and ask your questions in the philosophy section. By the same token, if you wish to discuss Einsteins theories, go to the physics or mathematics forums. If you wish to talk about the ethics of his work, go to the philosophy forum. If you wish to discuss whether Einstein was paranoid or psychotic, go to the psychology forum. If you wish to ask about the impact of his work on society, the sociology forum would be an appropriate venue. Asking all questions about everything in the philosophy forum is analagous to mailing the letter to John Smith, USA. It isn't logical. So, why can't you realize more of the truth? Is it because you have an overwhelming need to feel right and knowing or acknowledging the truth undermines it? No offense young lady. I don't wish to criticize; my goal is to educate....Show more

Brian Freedland: Philosophy tries to extended beyond the workings of the mind. Psychology links phenomena to the mind, where philosophy can do that and more. Ps! ychology and philosophy have their similarities, and in them, are one i! n the same.

Jesse Japak: there is big difference between them first one talking about ourself and second one talking about things thing

Toney Flaten: Philosophy can be about anything as long as we think about it as being philosophy. Psychology is one of the closest neighbors of philosophy in an academic sense. It deals with the nature of the mind and the way our experiences are affected which are two integral concepts of academic philosophy. All of Einstein's theories are philosophy as science is just philosophy in a more empirical sense. People don't read more because they don't care about the truth.
